TRANSFIGURATION

“And after six days Jesus taketh unto him Peter and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart: and he was transfigured before them.  And his face did shine as the sun: and his garments became white as snow…and as he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them.  And lo a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is by beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.  And the disciples hearing, fell upon their face, and were very much afraid.  And Jesus came and touched them: and said to them, Arise, and fear not.  And they lifting up their eyes saw no one but only Jesus.  And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying: Tell the vision to no man, till the Son of man be risen from the dead.”—Matthew 17: 1-2, 5-9

Have you ever witnessed another changed by God: energy, aura, spirit—all these about them changed?  The world will try and attribute other reason: attitude, psychology, medication, whatever other whisper that deflects and denies the greater glory.  The world will explain in lengthy theses as to why and how such change in man and spirit may occur; but as sophistication and knowledge absent wisdom makes the simple complex, wisdom leaves the complex simple.

               Simply: it was God.

In our faith, we leave such method beneath the label mystery.  While such may fail to satisfy needed reason for the zealous; for the simple and faithful, such answer—for millennia—has been enough.

Such change comes by Inspiration—effect of the Holy Spirit, by what ever method and medium It shows—appearing, affecting, touching, and Inspiring.  This is the true and simple answer to those who live of spirit.

Have you ever seen another changed by God?  I have.  I have seen Its touch on others.  I have felt it in myself.  Coming down from the mountain, or returned from whatever moment and place of touch and change; there is different glow, different sight, changed soul.

Any greater detail, beyond wisdom of simply knowing is answerable as mystery.

The change will be noticed, seen, and some will inquire to its reason.

“What changed?  What did you do?”

To the first, what changed: the answer is in paradox of the rationally absurd—nothing and everything.

What did you do?  The answer: nothing.  There is nothing we, ourselves, have done but something God has done in us.

It is the Holy Spirit: touch, effect—Transfiguration—where aspect of ourselves and world around is forever changed; focus, redirection, sight, and aim, becomes all to Greater and Higher.

               GOD.

You know it when you see it.  You know it should you live it; and the only answer is mystery—and maybe miracle.
