OPEN BOOK

“Our…relationship(s are) the inner sanctum of our emotional lives.  (They are) our first source of emotional support and our primary opportunity to develop and experience a deep level of intimacy.  For most of us, our…relationship(s) will be the one chance we have in this lifetime to truly know a person, and in turn, to be deeply known by another human being…”

“And what if you miss?” he asked.

                She held silent, listening.

“What if you don’t find that closeness, or it becomes lost, and the ways you wish to share and give are not wanted?”

The silence lingered as she mused.

“Are you better when you write?”

Like a book on a shelf, for those who don’t care—why should you? Save your spirit.

But for those who do…who care to know and learn all you hold inside—live as an open book…”

“…We spend our days surrounded by trivialities and superficialities, constantly overloaded with information.  With every passing day, to deeply know a person becomes more and more of a miracle.” —Matthew Kelly, The Seven Levels of Intimacy
