ILLUMINATION

“You make me happy,” he spoke.  “You helped me believe again in Goodness when it was something I struggled to see.  You made me believe in high ideals, even if they aren’t always achieved—or sometimes even real.  There are times when belief alone can make us better.

You cast color into a beige world, and helped me feel a warmth when all of me was fixed to setting cold.  I know I can be eccentric.  I spent the better part of my life keeping quiet—holding things back and in.  You made me want to change that, and I am.  I’m no longer afraid, and without fear, I no longer want to hide or keep back but wish to speak the good, in me and all, I know is in this world.

I want to cast color for others in beige worlds, who fight against setting forever cold.  I want to help others sense the universal Good that surrounds us—when eyes and souls are able still to see—and to shine back to a Light that did all of this for me so they may know, if ever they should doubt, they made a difference in a world.”

The sky woke as sun crested through the world’s horizon.  Its light touched the land, converting muted morning into living brilliance.  The light struck and warmed their skin, ending the cold of the night and—in an instant—all the world was changed.
