LET IT BE

LET IT BE (Lenten reflection):

How different would our world be if we gave without expectation of reciprocation and, instead, simply because it’s there? How different would we act if we worried less about receptions and perceptions and decided to offer the best in us whenever, and however, it shows? If love is caring for and wishing what is best for another, all it really has to do with us is our decision to offer or deny its communion. If it is there, why not express?

I thought about this today, about Lent and how most often we see this season as a time for “giving something up.” Why not, instead, decide simply to “give?” Both practices may condition us to the better selves we seek to be. If love is there, why not let it show?

Maybe it’s is a foolish thought. Then again, maybe the world could use a few more fools if this is the beginning metric by which we measure.
