Far and hard enough to drip sweat when I am through, I rest on a bench and listen to starlings in roost to lights and scattered band of flight across the morning sky.
It’s easy to get complacent, to put off little efforts and actions that improve and tone our own bodies, minds, and souls—the exercise we don’t do, books we mean to but never read, checking on a friend—all the little things that don’t cost much aside from focus and following through on what is already there as an intention.
Barely past 6:30, house is still asleep. I’ve done something for myself—feeling already better on the day—at no cost to sacrifice or attention to family, home, or day. It was just making use of a morning when I’m already well awake.
Sun rises later than week before. There’s a coolness in the air. Summer nears its end as autumn awaits begin. Life goes on, like the seasons.
Keep moving.
