INTO GLOW

Back and forth in plant of field, he observed procession of sky-change.  East of sun and light and cathedral clouds shallow-shadowed by lavenders and greys in echelon from south.

North held in blue as clouds arrived in reach and shadow overhead.  With change of sky, he hoped for rain: rain to pause his work in the field, rain to return to home—to her.  To slow back and forth rock of tractor over ground, he desired to be home: to make love to her—slow and gentle, without race or haste, to the steady fall storm-front squall; bodies warmed through change-touch cool in air; skin awakened in the sense; keeping to warmth and way and love of each other through until break of rain and return of lover’s blue and glow of sun and souls.

He felt tension touch within the heart, like shadow cloud heavied in weight desired releases in freed.  With weight, he breathed slow, deep, and full; chest expanded in the heave and emptied in exhale; numbing after as he changed with sky above.  Heart fluttered faint in empty of exhale, shoulders shuddering soft in effect as he turned at field row’s end; and looking on the sky; he longed for rainfall start, for work to end, and to love her through slow-pass of time and shadow sky into the after-glow.
