AFTER-DROUGHT

For two days, ran fell beneath grey that cast as blanket, complete, across the sky.  Cracks of the dry, split earth smoothed, and the shadow of the clouds and fall of the rain restored depth of hopeful hues to landscape of barren brown and paling green.

By strain, the land was strengthened in conditioning and after-softening when seed of set grasses absorbed shallow into soil face.  Drought and grazing made clear the ground from which new and greater stand would rise.

So was life, adversity then after-aid that leaves conditioned body richer, stronger, and greater than before; all through an answering of prayer and small planted blessings unseen in time of strife.  Life is but cycle of many states and seasons, each necessary in service to a purpose.

Even drought serves its purpose.  It is only man that defies God’s design.
