INVESTMENTS

I wrote two letters this morning.  Before beginning, I reflected on how little I’ve invested into friendships and people that hold meaning in my life.  In distractions of the immanent, the more important fell away—never pressing, always there but forgotten in the background—until purposeful consideration returns such back to front and sight.

This morning, I invested.  I invested time and thought—and the cost of a first-class stamp (whatever that is today)—on a few that matter to me.

The letters will get there when they get there, be read when they are read, and maybe the small investment will mean something to the ones for whom they’re made.

We each have our own ways to share to another: “you matter,” “I am grateful for who you are and what you mean to me,” “I was just thinking of you,” and whatever other simple things we (or I) so seldom seem to say.

This morning, I invested; paying back a little thought, gratitude, and goodwill life and friends paid into me.

Life is richer for the effort.

  1. Byron I know I’m in your heart weather I communicate with you or not. You are always in mine and the memories you gave me are in my heart forever.
