THE PERSEIDS

He woke her in the blackness of pre-dawn, well before the rising sun, and drove to open field where stars shone in violet sky above horizon rimmed in ambient light of small town beneath world’s meridian.  They lain together staring into the Cosmos as stars fell from the heavens all around—blue, green, and orange flare-streaks that burned and dissipated into air in their descent through sky.

For three nights, he brought her there to witness the rain of stars upon which each prayed silent dreams back into the Infinite.

On the third night, they made love beneath light of stars and shower of dreams descending all around, a consummation of soul-draw, waited for, until appearing sign.  They made love in the celestial light of Heaven’s rain and created new life in communion with the Greater Mystery descending then from Cosmos into life and world.

They made love in the soft light of Dreams, to the warmth of bodies becoming forever-after one, through cool night air blanket before dawn’s rising flame.

It was all a dream, and all of it was all true.
