“He found himself wondering at times, especially in the autumn, about the wild lands, and strange visions of mountains that he had never seen came into his dreams.”—J.R.R. Tolkien

It happened to her too. She stared at the tapestry on wall above white rest of loveseat-place—its fade and bleach to time in the very sun it seemed to show; green sided hills where, though it did not she, she dreamed sheep grazing in the green; sunset glory and cloud across—taupe of the tapestry showing through. Dimmed, aged, and indistinct—she dreamed it still in color tones and vision-tell.
She’d never seen the hills—low mountains, if they were—but she knew them in her heart and wondered why it was. She wondered why it was she knew the place by heart like so many others she had dreamed then ventured out and discovered in the world.
Vision came to her right then, sense-draw to loveseat’s beneath; shag of the throw as the sheep in hills of tapestry’s wild place; neat clean of the pillows, cushions’ face, frame of the armrests’ sturdy giving structure and bound lie and spread. Vision then, her breath drew slow, strong heart within her chest. A rising of warmth tinged in her skin and spirit’s sensing just beneath.
Ethereal, the autumn light shone in yellow-melt that cast romance-upon it all—especially loveseat’s lie. Her body there—framed, contained—her hands in press to armrest’s bound, body pressed to cushions’ smooth, warm of the yellow autumn light in cast upon her free, throw’s shag and smooth to raised leg, outer thigh spread and resting to its plush.
She saw it all, knew it true before ever found or lived.
Slow deep breaths—containing, controlling—heart heavy-beating still, she felt the weight. She felt the more, way it all would be.
Footsteps on the hardwood floor, he appeared to her in scene. Autumn vision—manifest—they lived the heartfelt rest: lovely, spirited, all as visioned—yellow light in melt and cast spill and glowing over scene; loveseat’s shape, frame and contain of their bodies held, all before the close-far dream of tapestry’s sky and green.
