ALMOST-AUGUST

Almost-August rain, he listened to the crickets’ sing in daylight shadow of the storm.  Strong heat broken into a state of cool that tempered and calmed the summer strength.

A quiet on the land, he listened and sensed.  Rain began again, and he sat amidst its gentle fall as crickets silenced and songbirds carried on calming calls.

Work to be done, he slowed to the state of sky and land and world around—tempered and soothed from summer strains eased and lessened by the rain.
