ABOUT GIFTS

        That’s another thing about gifts: they’re for who they’re for and that’s the point, even if they mean little or nothing to anyone else.  They’re personal, and it’s the personal that makes the meaning.  You can’t buy that on shelves, find meaning in someone else’s marketing.  It’s from gifted to the gifted—expression of a value one wishes to share and show: like a story, like art, something from one that affects and touches another.

        When you get it right, you know.

        And if not, there is value and worth, still, in the effort and intention.  It was not hidden away, but gifted because that is what we all must do to sign to another what it is they mean to us.
