GLOAM

She began to believe in angels.  She began to believe in God—to discern and sense their presence everywhere within her life.  She held to first, gift of second, then as child took in nurse upon her as they rested in gloam of beginning dawn in glow through wide room window; their bodies, minds, and spirits then as sky in transition between wake and dream.

Warmth of the little body in drawn-bring upon her own; affirmation of the blessing, gifted soothe and further peace; run of her hand over child’s head in light and slow-soft strokes; her child’s touch in answer back; fingers’ light tap and petting to her breast, slow of tap and stroke as, filling belly, child comforted back into almost-sleep before break of the full dawn-light.

She believed in God and angels too.

They were with her in the room.
