IN DETAIL

Intimacy—attention—these were in the details: in the way her skin lightened back, in the soften of its lines, from summer tan and touch of sun, restored to pale and pure; in the lighten of her freckles too, from deep and dark, ochre and copper rich, faintening, lightening, melding into background of body’s winter fair.

And, still, the warmth of her love-rose hue when glowed and colored through; lovely of her fair more beautiful in paint of her lover’s heart; her lips, her eyes—their speak to him through silence; nerves and aware and set of the blindness when all they wanted then was them.

She faintened then.  Skin lightened of her summer’s tan, sun-drawn of line from summer cover blurred, as if artist’s paintbrush-blend,  across high slope of her breast in low open of her shirt; fade of the tan and freckles’ flash into milk-white of covered save, freckles hint of trail like shadowed tracks upon a snow.

        Beautiful.

There was tension in the room, one loved and both they knew.  Heart and breath’s response, eyes and energies in stare; speak of her eyes, speak of her lips, communing in their silence as his energy stayed fixed and fairness of her tender skin rosed into lover-hue.

        Beautiful.

        Intimate.

        Enchantment in her detail.
