SUMMER RESTLESS

        Rising sun burne away the dew and cool and calm of dawn.  Blue of sky, bright of light—then came the want and longing that strengthened in the heat.

        Daydreamings and mind’s conspire as he worked in the full of sun, he gazed in thoughtfulness to shade; gentler of the heat beneath shadowcast of boughs.

        Perspire of their bodies still; Anna’s legs—long and lithe and never-ending—suntanned and freckled, raised and bent; his hands high in hold to front of thighs, tight-draw into fold-nook of her hip from legs’ raise and bend; Anna’s lie to bed of grass; force of their breath, sharp in its huff, in match to give snd take; bodies open, bodies free—sheltered in shade—strong-loving in summer’s heat.

        Hour on hour, into sunset, he worked and dreamed through summer’s day: restless to return to her—to make in night what he dreamed in day.
