“…faith sees in all things the action of the Creator…The action of the creature is a veil which covers the profound mysteries of the divine operation…All that takes place within us, around us, or through us, contains and conceals His divine action.”—Abandonment to Divine Providence, Jean-Pierre Caussade
_____
Before her, Anna stared in wonder on blinding of stairwell’s light, window’s flood of golden sun—near blinding in the brilliance.
Newly woke, and still as night, she in hold and brace to banister rail; forearms upturned, wrists forward to the sun, palms and fingers wrap in hold to railing’s underside; naked of body, air of the room, light and smooth of his touching to; hands’ lift of behind, raise-curl in her low-arced back; smooth and way, body further raised, weight and give of return onto; flood of the sun over open front; press and meet, roll-match in their make—heaven in the light.
Strengthening, focusing, making in the wonder; stronger and greater on; her reach and hold, change of balance and brace; his taking of her front; body high raised, swoon of the rock; keeping, deepening, focused; breath match, focusing, feeling, nearing; then wave and roll of the Wonder through, Creation’s make in brilliance of sun; from high and strength into waver and weakness; brilliance of sun, meekened in after, tempered as glow of their own given spirits; but all was love. All was beauty. Profound mystery in abandon to divined God-action.
In God, in awe, in love—and one another—they entirely believed.
Stairwell wonder—living sign—they made and gave complete in abandon to divine of Creator’s will.
